Fisherman's Wharf is located in James Bay, a short walk or water taxi ride from downtown Victoria. On the wharf you will find shops, restaurants, ice cream vendors, fishing boats and neighbourhood of colourful houseboats. While it is quite busy in the warmer months, this is high on the list of 'must see' while in visiting the area.
Many seabirds, herons and seals reside in the area. You can see the seals up close as they come right up to the docks hoping for a tasty snack. There is even a 'Seal Cam' on the Fisherman's Wharf Website where you can see what the seals are up to.
There are several concessions on the wharf, you can go for ice cream or tacos or fish and chips. One of these concessions, The Fish Store and More sells both tacos and fish and chips fresh from the ocean.
It's fun to go for a stroll to look at the many colourful houseboats moored on the wharf. There are even a couple of Bed and Breakfasts among the houseboats. Fisherman's Wharf is also a great vantage point for watching the seaplanes.
A couple of adventure companies operate from the docks where you can go sea kayaking or whale watching. There is a gift boutique where you can find souvenirs and handmade keepsakes.
There is a playground adjacent to the pay parking in Fisherman's Wharf park. This park boasts a 'beach' area and a rain garden as well. Plus there is lots of space to spread out and have a picnic.
There is a pay parking lot available at the Wharf and sometimes you can get free street parking across from the Fisherman's Wharf park.
